I have seen this problem pop up as well with older clients not loading all the .dll's and when you enter your password, it would fail. The newer versions of the client have this corrected so you are not allowed to login until everything loads.
You can also check this as a last resort:
Check the frame type you are using and verify that your 4.11 server has the correct service pack applied to it as well as the latest client installed. If this is complete, I would check for transmission errors between the Workstation and server. Most likely I would focus in on the NIC on the PC and Server, if the server is an actual SERVER and not a PC running the Server OS, then direct your attention to the PC.
