Login failure for Arcserve backups!!

Hello, we are using arcserve running remote backups of a solaris box. Recently, the remote backups have failed due to login failure ( even though I can login as root at the screen or via telnet).

Arcserve can not commence its remote backups since the login failures.

The root superuser login account and password is valid but not when tried remotely from Archserve server.
