login failed. unable initialize thread listen to data from multicast

Hi Everyone,

I'm getting an error when attempting to run the Symposium Agent Desktop Displays (included with SWC). After launching the client it allows me to enter the Agent ID, however after that I receive the following pop-up error.

error: login failed. unable initialize thread listen to data from multicast port: 230.0.0.1

This is a new Symposium build (so it has never worked). I've confirmed with our Networking guys that multicast has been enabled on our network.

I've combed through all Nortel NTP's but everything seems as though it is setup correctly.

Symposium 5.0 (with recent PEPs)
SWC 4.5 (with recent PEPs)
Agent Desktop (4.05.088.0)


Any assistance would be appreciated.

Check your firewall settings. If possible get your users to turn off their desktop piece of it and see if they can log in, then they should be able to turn it back on and function. If this works, you probably need to get with whoever sets up your firewall to allow this operation.

Use ICERTDTrace utility to verify the Multicast is leaving the SWC and being received at the client end.

I confirmed as I am able to run multicast on the TLAN/CLAN network. Looks like a networking issue to me. I will engage by cisco guys.
