I have 2 4.11 SP9 Netware servers, I am trying to get a ghost image off one and it won't let me login via SYS\public\login\login.exe it just comes up with access denied. Password and user name are the same (obviously). If I try the same with the other server it logs on fine.

If any one has any ideas why this should be happening I would be greatful.

Hi, Revvy

Are you logging into the server or the tree?

If the sharing violation is happening when you try to execute login.exe, likely something is keeping that file open on the server or there is a rights problem. Have you checked the monitor console to see what has it open?

Have you tried rebooting the server?

It shouldn't really matter where you execute login.exe from, you should be able to use the one on the 2nd server to login to the 1st (login servername/userid). Or login to the 2nd and attach to the first and then map a drive to get your file.

So, to clarify:

Two NetWare 4.11 servers. Your Ghost account logs in fine on one but not the other. Is there an NDS replica problem - ie. one server is not synchronising properly and therefore a password change has not replicated to it? Also, is there an NDS replica on both servers?

I was tring to log on to the server (I tried it with the server prefix but the same error occurred)I can log into the problem server with the same user account (using the windows login). I have tried other users to, with no joy.

I think I will try bouncing the server and see if that clears the problem (I am certain I have had it working before now!!)
