How do I log into a bcm 1000? Element manager like a bcm 50?
I have only dealt with the BCM 50s this far.
Customer wants to add 4 Cordless 7406e sets.
They are compatible with the BCM 1000?

thanks.

No. Unified Mgr. Open IE and in the url put in the BCM ip:6800.

Make sure that you use Windows explorer. Your BCM 1000 could still be at release 4, but I agree that it may be the older version. Another thing that you can do, is to connect via a serial port and login to check what the software version is at?.

IS there a telset entrance to do programming? I have a customer that wants 4 cordless T7406Es added off one base.
I am proficient with BCM 50 400 and the Norstar Gear.
Any advise when going into this BCM1000?

It's not recomended, but I've done it via a telset in almost the same way for the good old Norstar systems.

On the BCM systems to 3.7, Use "Feature" ** "SYSTEM" & the Password = "23646" or try "266344"
BCM systems 4.0+ Use "Feature" ** "CONFIG" & the User ID: & Password = "738662"

What was the reasoning on it not being recommended?
Just curious if I am going to wreck something?
Thanks again for your help.

Thats a good question. I think it was because of the NT4 software being used at that time. Silly really as Telset programming can sometimes be easier to do for things like hunt groups etc.

It saves having to get the laptop out and I've been able to talk customers through making the changes without having to travel to site!.

This customer wants to put analog Cordless phones on this system.
THe modules it has are
32DSI
4x16
CTM8

Do I need to install ATAs on each digital extension or are any of these module cards capable of analog?
They want 4 analog cordless sets.

32DSI = 32 Digital telephones ports available and you would require an ATA to be fitted for each cordless phone.

4*16 = 4 Analogue COT lines and 16 Digital telephones ports

CTM8 = 8 Port Calling Line ID Analog Trunk Media Bay Module

The answer will be to obtain 4 ATA units.

perfect thanks again.

1 last question - you said to use a browser to login.
how do I reset the login password if I do not know it?
Can this be done through the telset entrance. Via feature 985 route?

thanks again.

That's the tricky one to answer!. I would connect a serial port onto your laptop and power up the system if it's currently not in use. Use 9600 and standard settings.

You should see an login, domain and password after a few minutes for the older 3.x (NT4) versions. This isn't much use for the release 4.x Linux platform!.

Another way is to use LAN2 and hope that the default address of 10.10.11.1 was left untouched. you may need a reversable (cross over) RJ45 cable!. Check first that you are able to ping this address, but set your laptop to a different address with the same range if possible.

If you get as far as the login options, then try the Nortel login and password defaults. If that doesn't work, then you may need to consider contacting Nortel support which will be chargeable or try imaging another known BCM login hard disk (making sure that you can get any keycodes first!).

The important thing here is to try and find out your system site ID.

Don't forget to try out my FAQ guide for finding the IP address on a BCM 50 system. This may help?.
