If you installed NW5 with IP and IPX, you can use IP as your primary protocol. You did have IP on your workstation, right? and you did install NW5 with IP. Are the server and workstation on the same segment? Can you ping the server from the workstation? The only thing I use IPX for on an NW5 server here is for some Oce' printer/copier machines with OS2 in their controller that only work with IPX. All clients are on IP.
