We have a problem with users logging onto our SCO Openserver system and being inactive for large amounts of time - 3 Hours plus. This causes problems as the database application we use has a limited number of licences. Is there a utility that will automatically log off inactive users after a given amount of time?

idleout HH:MM
although this could be a problem with your database if it doesn't recognize that the client has gone away.

Many thanks for your reply - could you please elaborate.

Kind Regards,

Mark Wilkinson

idleout -> is the name of the utility you are looking for.
HH:MM -> is the hours:minutes parameter that controls how long a session must be idle before it is terminated.

you run this utility as the root user.

I cautioned you that your database application may not release licenses properly if the client session just disappears.
