I have the same situation, but got rid of the message by logging in to the printer and setting the date back a year.
My Phaser 850 has been turned off for six months...retired or semi-retired. It works perfectly even if seldom used. I turned it on today to use it for a major printing I needed, only to have it require a maintenance kit and refuse to print. My current extended kit is for 40K pages or 2 years. But in two years I've printed about 5K pages. I wish to know how to change the date back on the printer to avoid buying and installing an unnecessary kit.
