I am running two servers running Ubuntu Server 16.10. I am trying to configure SSH to allow logging in with PKI keys. I am trying to connect to the server from a Windows 7 computer using Putty. When I try to login to the server using the private key I get a message that says the server rejected our key or something like that.

I would appreciate any assistance.

Have you added the keys that you generated on your local machine to your user profile on the server?

If not, there is a 'walk through' of how to set it up.

The "Put the public key in .ssh/authorized_keys2" is a bit vague in how it is worded in that document but is only a matter of

Code:
cp .ssh/authorized_keys .ssh/authorized_keys2
