We've had a request to program keys to allow a user, from their phone, to enter/leave hunt groups (or perhaps ring groups in v8).

But, I don't think this is possible on the Mitel? (though other systems seem to allow this, eg NEC XN120)

There is the 'group admin tool' but it doesn't seem to list 'ring groups' just 'hunt groups'.

I guess ACD might be an option?

Does an ACD set operate, when no-one is logged in, or is it to all intents and purposes useless?

Thanks for any pointers

There is two ways to achieve this:

The good old fashion UCD. This uses Hunt groups. You can programme a key to put one Hunt group into DND and programme re-routing to another hunt group with more / different agents in it.

Or option 2 for both ring groups and hunt groups, use hot desk agents. HD agents can be put into groups and then when they log in they'll start getting calls for that group.

What are you trying to achieve? there'e also ACD which is cheap and easy in the 3300.

Thanks, the desire, is for there to be say 4 people, whose phones ring simultaneously, when a certain number is called.

From any of these 4 phones, to be able to enter or leave this group, by pressing a key.

If someone wasn't currently in the group, they'd still wish to use their phone for other things. I wasn't sure if ACD sets were usable, when not 'logged in' to ACD?

You could use Hot Desking with Ring Groups. Then when the user wants to leave they just hit log out. The only thing to make sure is thay either that handset DN or the Hot Desk DN has an appearance of the other so you can give out one number to be dialled direct.

Or yes you can use ACD, but that will work similar to the above

If the users are in a hunt group they just need to go makeusy or DND and they will not get any Hunt Group calls.

Or have I mis read the requirements.

Other solutions seem to be a bit over complicated !

Mitel also has a UCD (Uniform Call Distribution) that allows basic agent functionality without the licensing requirements and costs.
