I am running Linux SLES8 on a Sunfire V40 server with SCSI harddisks configured for h/w RAID1.
But my problem is that currently the only way I can check the health status of the server and especially the harddisks is by inspecting the server manually - looking for red LEDs telling me that something is wrong.
My question is whether there is a way I can have the system tell me when there is a problem i.e. by sending an email to root or by writing a message to the system log.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
