Is there a log that would show loss of network connectivity in the OS anywhere?

I'm not part of the network group at my company, so I don't have the ability to run monitoring tools from outside the box. I need something internal to the box that will provide a log of when it loses connectivity.

Thanks.

Favorite all too common vendor responses: "We've never seen this issue before." AND "No one's ever wanted to use it like that before.

you can do a tcpdump or run netstat, but unless you know which ports of ip's, these things report every thing and you have to decipher through the output.

If you are talking about your primary NIC, you can grep /var/adm/messages file and look for link down or link up.
