Hi Guys
Wonder if someone can help me.

I am a complete novice with SQL 2008 Log Shipping.

I have 2 Win 2008 R2 servers running SQL 2008 R2, both connected on the same network.

on my primary machine i have started to set up log shippling.
This is the way i have set it up

Initialize Secondary Database Tab - Yes. generate a full backup of the primary database and restore it into the seconday database
Copy Files tab - The directory to store the log shippling files on the primary server
Restore Transaction Log - Standby Mode, disconnect users in the database when restoring backups.

On my seconday server I have the same database structure as the primary but is is blank, I have also tried it by restoring the primary database to the secondary.

but when i click on OK to applt the Secondary Database Settings I get an error

"Cannot be a secondary database because it is the primary database.

My question is simple. how do i get the seconday server to think it is a seconday server.

Thanks

I think I would go back to square one and delete the databases on the secondary server.

By using the wizard it should create the needed database.

One thing to have in place is a shared folder for the log transaction files.

As a small shop we use the primary server for the monitoring surver and this has worked well.

Good luck.
