Log Shipping question about backup file

Hello, SQL 2008R2
After the initial backup and restore that is done by log shipping, do you need to keep the .bak file created by log shipping? This is a file space issue. We backup the production database daily.

Nope.

You can always restart the log shipping at a later date with a new backup and restore.
