Log option

I've done this before but I am having a bad Monday!! I want to start a log and everything I type and the output from it to go to this log file. What is the command that I use to start this??

Are you talking about the command script? Try script -a /tmp/output.txt.

Use the tee command

 

[ProbablyDown]

i.e. ls -l | tee ls.txt

 

[bi]

tee will give you the output of what you type and you have to invoke it each time.

script will give you both what you type and its output and remains logging until you type exit.
