I have created a new user account that I want to use for Exmerge. However, when I try to log in to the Exchange server it tells me that I can't log in locally. How do I allow this user account to log in to my server

Is this through terminal services or directly on the console? In order to logon locally you either have to be part of the administrators group OR be one of the allowed users/groups as defined in the Group/Local policy setting for the "logon locally right

I want to be able to log on the console. I can't add the user to the administrators group as that causes a problem with exmerge which is why I have created this user in the first place.

When I go to the local security policy and look at the log on locally section, the button to add users/groups is greyed out.

Modify group policy for that server and add the user to the allow local login portion of the system-->security-->local policies (Or somewhere close to there) and I think that may help you out. Of course, add admins too.
