Is there a way with having a phone running thru the modem tthen out to the wall of keeping a log to a file of all numbers dialed out as well as incoming calls? i do have caller id on the phone line but would like to keep a log if possible
BTW System is running XP Pro and modem is a Zoom V92 D/F/V

You can definitely log the incoming caller ID, but the outgoing connections are far more difficult, unless you are willing to allow the PC to dial all of the calls.

It should be possible to build a high impedence tap to the phone line for the modem, and put the modem in online (voice) mode and detect the DTMF tones as they go by, but it is definitely not for the faint of heart. There are several devices built that will collect the DTMF passively on the phone line and push it out an RS-232 (serial) port, so you could just set a capture file in your favorite terminal emulator and collect the outgoing calls that way.

But you still wouldn't be able to do both at the same time with the same modem.
