Hello, I think I have an easy question but my straight forward answer has alluded me thus far. Is there any way to easily setup monitoring connections to the SMTP server, something similar to connector logging in 2007? What I need to do is determine connections to it to see what is still using it as a relay.

Thanks for looking!

Hi there

I think in smtp connector properties, you can turn on SMTP logging.

anyway, you can do basic telnet test to check open-relay like

telent mytestdm.com 25
mail from:
rcpt to:

data
subject

.

a quick google search will turn up heaps of MS articles.

good luck

Micahel

That telnet session will only test inbound anonymous SMTP connector, it isn't a test for being an open relay.
