I've been troubleshooting a paging issue on a Merlin Legend R7, and can't find the reason for this one. This is in a school setting, so the oper. can choose to use the overhead speaker in just one classroom, or the entire school.

Overhead paging trunk is 811.

Operator presses the "Loudspeaker Page" button on her phone, then presses the corresponding DSS autodial for ext. 135. The page does not come through on the overhead speaker for this classroom (the exts. and classrooms are numbered the same), and the operator hears a busy signal. Same result if the ext. is manually dialed after pressing the page button.

If an all-page is used, then they hear the announcements just fine, as do the rest of the classrooms.

I have assigned a loudspeaker page button to ext. 135, and matched all of it's other params. w/ other working exts. The only difference remaining is ext. 135 is not a member of cover group 30, and calling group 770 (VM). Phone is NOT on DND.

Thanks MM. That option looks to be on. Please see ext info below:

What paging equipment do you have? Please list.
How is each extension connected to the overhead paging speaker?
And how is overhead paging accessed by dialing extension number.

Well, I am confused, as well.

Are you trying to do a VOICE Page to the extension, or to an OVERHEAD Speaker tied to EXTERNAL PAGING EQUIPMENT?

Sorry for any confusion, lol... Here's all I know at this point since I have not been onsite.

Not sure how the individual classrooms are connected to the main paging amp.

They are trying to do an OVERHEAD page tied to an external paging system.

Somehow the paging system knows which classroom to route the page to when you enter the classroom number. They have the individual paging locations numbered the same as their PHYSICAL Merlin phones, just to keep things neat and tidy. This means that the MLX-10D in classroom is ext. 135, and the overhead access code for that classroom is also 135.

To reach an individual classroom via OVERHEAD page, the operator at ext. 110 presses the loudspeaker page button, which accesses trunk 811, which is designated as the paging access trunk. They then enter the 3 digit classroom number and this allows them to announce to that specific classroom.

I just had her try it to different ways. One way was to press the Loudspeaker Page button on her phone, then manually dial the 3 digit classroom number, and she gets the busy. If she presses the Loudspeaker Page button, then an Autodial button from the DSS, she gets dead air.

I was informed this is a Bogen system, but she does not know the model#.
