Locking up in design mode

Have a database set up using Approach 9.0 on win98. System has been operating without problems for two years, now when going into design mode, the system locks up requiring reboot. Nothing has been changed, only additional records added (10,000 total). Anyone any suggestions please.

Do you have any summary fields on the view that you're on when you go into design mode? If so if could be that approach is trying to calculate your summary totals prior to entering design mode; with alot of records this would take a long time. the solution is to do a find for a minimal number of records prior to going into design mode or remove the offending summary field from the view.
