Locking down IX Workplace features

It appears you can customize the IX Workplace for users using the 46xxsettings.txt file, but is it true that you have to create a 46xxsettings for every extension?

Is there any other places to customize the configuration and prevent users from changing them like you can for one-X using the .xml files?

You're supposed to use AADS to get unique settings per user.

You login with your LDAP, and based on what LDAP group you're in and what device type you have, you get specific settings.

AADS also has a parameter to lock settings.
 
Quick question, likely very stupid, but what is the main difference between central management(via ACM) and AADS?

I am planning on using central management for about 200 one-x agent and/or AAFD clients.
 
AADS is for UC, One-X Central Management is for CC
