Does anyone know of any VB routines (or other) that will allow me to 'lock' access to the floppy disk and CD-ROM drives on a Windows 2000 PC? I have a requirement to stop unauthorised access to the PC - to stop loading of data or software, but perhaps more importantly, to stop theft of data. However, the VB6 application software must re-enable the floppy and CD-RW in order to do backups and CSV exports. (I'm looking for something other than NT user profiles or policies!)

Regards,

Since you want to deny complete access to a PC (Loading, Reading any kind of Software) i would suggest the development of routines that intercept certain keystrokes such as:

Ctrl+Alt+Del, Atl+Tab and other Shortcuts.

I would also suggest searching for routines that hide the taskbar.

PS: I have developed an application (Windows'98) that copies the picture of the desktop into a maximized form, Making the form the TOP most, Display a textbox prompting for a proper password and hide the mouse pointer.

I hope that helped ....
