Is there a way to lock out or protect the Document Summary information of MS Word 2003 file. What I need is that that when I send a document to someone they should not be able to change the Summary information like Author Name, Company. etc

Hi,

Have you tried protecting the document?

No way. You can right-click the document icon in explorer and change the author. This can be done even in digitally signed document without rejecting the signature.
You could try add this information to header/footer and protect the document. You can also convert the document to the 'pdf' one, there are more security settings here (it's free and quite easy with new openoffice writer for instance). BTW, the author in 'pdf' file properties cna be changed in explorer too.

thanks every1 - it clearly means that this simple feature is not available :(

Hi Gogadrum,

you may not be able to protect these properties - but if you're not afraid of some macro programming you could save and restore them with vba code.
Have a look at "DSO file".
