Hi

i have two database, one with the tables, and the other with the forms and queries.

This application will be used by many users on the same network so on every desktop i have linked that tables to the server by the same map on every machine (absolute path as been tested too).

my problem is that when my tables are linked i try to open the linked tables and i cannot do anything the linked tables are all locked!!

but if i link the tables on the same desktop the linked tables are all ok.

- i run windows xp pro, ms access 2000 9.0.3821

thanks for your help

Do users have all the required permissions for the folder/file on the server?

it is supposed to be set but can you just tell me what i have to look up to see if this is the problem?

but i am testing the application on my own computer and it does the same thing!!

i have never see that before!!

thanks

One question would be what type of the server does backend run on? Having said that, users require full access to an Access database since Access updates system tables while it is used. Otherwise, Access will complain loudly.

And have you setup security yet?

Under the main menu, choose "tools" -> "options"
-> "tables / queries" tab, change "Run Permissions" to "owner's" (set this back to user's permission after you setup security)
-> "advance" tab, change "Default Open Mode" to "shared".
