My Windows XP Professional won't let me log in. Here's what
happened:

1) I had set up my PC so that I didn't need a password anymore (no account log in screen)

2) About two weeks ago the welcome screen started prompting me to change my password because it was going to expire. I selected "No" for a few days, although I wasn't sure why it was even prompting me because I had chosen not to use my password at login.

3) One day I decided to check "OK". However, it wouldn't accept my password (I only used two passwords over and over).

4) Today it said my password had expired and it must be changed. Again, it wouldn't accept my password. So now I can't login to my PC even though I had chosen not to login with a password.

What can I do to get into my PC? Thanks!!

Hit f8 early and often when the machine starts. Logon as "Administrator" with no password in Safe Mode.

Start, Run, lusrgmgr.msc
Users
right-click the normal user and reset the password.

Also, as Administrator, control Panel, User Accounts
click the username
click change password.

Be sure to use the setting in my first note to set the password never expires.

lusrmgr.msc

You need to log on as administrator to reset the password for that account. If the administrator password was never change since you bought the machine it is probably blank. You will have to boot into safe mode to do this because you set the machine to not prompt for password. Go into computer management and right click the desired user account and reset the password. Then go into the properties of the user account and check the password never expires box.
