Locked out of VBA code

My customer has a database where the developer put a password on the VBA code. Unfortunately, this password was never documented, the developer has moved on, and no longer has any idea what the password would be.

I've found large quantities of utilities for bypassing the password on a database, or even user-level security, but these utilities all report that this database is not password protected. (I can open it, just not get into the code part.)

Aside from reverse-engineering the database for the customer, what are my options? I assure you that I have authorization from the owners of the code to use whatever means possible to open this database. I'm just not sure what to use.

Elcomsoft.com do a very good Office password recovery.

If it won't allow you to view the current password it will at least allow you to reset it to a password of your choosing.

Licenses aren't cheap for the full suite, however if you can FTP the MDB file to me I'll have a look.

Ed,

Thanks for the offer, but because of the sensitivity of the customer's data, I can't send this out.

I found a tool called VBA Password Bypasser by Thegrideon Software which licenses for about $30 which seems like it will work. I'm about to purchase the license and go that route.

This tool allows you to open the VBA portion of Access using any password, then change the existing password to one you can remember.

Registered the software ($45 for business use it turns out), and it worked perfectly.
