How can I reset a BIOS that I have been locked out of because of a misplaced password. I have a Asus A7V8X-X Motherboard, with a AMD XP 2100 CPU. How can I reset the Bios to bypass the password requirement?

There may be a jumper on the board that can be used to discharge/clear the BIOS or you can unplug the computer and remove the battery to discharge the CMOS. That should clear the password but you will have to reset some of the entries.

Apart fromthe jumper, try psessing "End" while booting and that should bypass the BIOS password and enable you to reset the password or set it to no password.....Dave

Thanks for the quick response. I was able to reset the BIOS by unplugging the power cord, removing the CMOS battery, waiting 1/2 hour then reversing the steps. With exception of changing a few settings everything works fine.
