Please excuse my ignorance,as a newbie to Solaris I would greatly appreciate your answer to the following question:

When one looks in the etc/shadow file to see if an account is inaccessible(locked)...everything that I have read indicates that I should see an entry like that below:

sam:*LK*

If instead I see an entry like this:

sam:LK

Is this the same thing.....does the second entry without the asterisks also render the SAM account inaccessible (locked)?

Thank you in advance for your help on this..............

If your unsure about whether someone is using a password just do

/usr/bin/logins -p

perl -e 'print $i=pack(c5,(40*2),sqrt(7600),(unpack(c,Q)-3+1+3+3-7),oct(104),10,oct(101));'

Thank you so much, I really appreciate it...
