I posted this in TCP/IP with something else but it is really an XP PRO question

Dual homed XP Pro systems for Lab environment

How do I "lock the School NIC so they cant change it" while leaving the LAB NIC so they can. They will put school NIC on 192.x.x.x then it doesnt work then they start 'tech'ing it to see what is wrong and make things worse.

I want to leave PCs as open as possible so they can learn but this has become an issue.

The normal permissions on making changes to the network adapter settings are not granular -- it is an all adapter or nothing proposition.

You could implement registry permission restrictions only on the keys affecting that single adapter. If that adapter (identified by its GUID) had the registry keys set to read-only, a change would not be possible.
