is there any way to lock down some network drives and only give them access to 1 network drive if some is coming in via vnp? but if the system connected too the local lan they can access all the network drives. just wanted to find out if this is possible?

what i mean was there must be a way to restrict the same user via vpn but no if they have there pc physically on the network ie in the building.

As far as windows authentication is concerned (I assume we are talking windows), the remote connection and the local connection are exactly the same.

Carlsberg don't run I.T departments, but if they did they'd probably be more fun.

yes if they are on separate machine, you can configure RRAS policy to connect to certain servers only

so what your saying is to have another box.

Yes, configure RRAS policy for users/groups to have access to few servers you want them to see.
