Hey y'all,

i got this table and want to lock every single existing row for editing exept for the record to be created.

Can somebody help me out here?

Greetz,

Are you speaking of entering data directly into the table, as opposed to entering data via a form?

Go into the form Design View, then go to

Properties->Data and set:

Allow Edits No
Allow Additions Yes
Allow Deletions Yes or No (Depending on your preference)

You need to think about what happens when you realize that a saved record needs to be modified, and sooner or later this will arise! You also need to disable the mousewheel if you or any user has a mouse with a wheel. Otherwise they'll accidently hit it in the middle of entering a record, they'll move to another record, and the one they were working on will be saved and locked!

If you have concerns/problems with the mousewheel thing or with a back way in to edit records let us know. Both are easily done.
