We are in the early stages of specifying the architecture, but plan to use a 2 servers for live link (load balanced) and an additional server for Admin.

We are unsure if we need to put redundancy in place for the Admin Server. We understand if the Admin server goes down, notifications and indexing will stop.... what is not clear is if Search stops as well.

Does the Search process reside on the Live Link server or the Admin Server?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Lisa,
the search components can exist on any server and can be spread across several, the Admin server merely acts as the federator for Search / Index etc at a simple level. You can migrate the Admin functions to another server if you need to as well.

Have you spoken to your local OT / OT Partner people about this as they have significant experience in designing a solution given the customer specific needs, usage profile etc, do you have any requirements from your business as to availability of Search, SLA's etc that may impact this ?

There are separate procedures if you really wanted more than one Admin server. It is hard to explain and is best accomplished by talking to OT and working thru a tcicket perhaps.Similarly splitting notifications/agents on different hots slao require you to change/tweak some settings on the different opentext.ini files. That is much easier than the Admin server functionality though.

Well, if I called the wrong number, why did you answer the phone?
