I am trying to keep track of my tapes via the Locatino Maintenance facility built into Arcserve. I have 4 locations, 2 offsite, and 2 onsite.

Most of the time, the only tape to get into the Media pool view is the first tape in a sequence. This is the only tape that I can change locations for.

Does Arcserve assume that all tapes go offsite together?

For a reason only the designers (not users) of ARCserve understand, ARCserve only displays the Seq 1 of a backup when it is in a Save Set. There is no easy way to quickly determine what other tapes belong to that same backup job.

I would assume that ARCserve sets the location on all tapes in the backup set. One way to determine this is, after changing the location in the Save Set, move it to the Scratch Set. There, it will display all tapes in the backup set. Check to see if all the tapes have been configured with the same Location. Just don't forget to move it back to the Save Set when done.

Also, that screen does not always refresh when you think it should, so if something doesn't look right, then try hitting the refresh button.

Did the test - you are correct, It does mark all Tapes with the correct location.

Absolutely hate that all tapes do not show up in the save set.
