Hello all
I am testing moving mailboxes from my exch03 to my newly installed exch2010 server. I know that the transaction log generated doing a move equals the size of the MB itself. Can someone tell me the following: (I searched around but couldn't find this info)
1)where are the transaction logs for the moves located?
2)what is the naming convention of those files
3)will they remain there after a successful move or is there a mechanism for auto deletion of those logs after a move completes
4)if they do remain, can they be deleted safely manually

Thank you very much

You've not looked far then.
The transaction logs for the moves are the same logs as the TLs for the database which are specified in the TLs config of the database in the GUI or in get-mailboxdatabase
The naming convention of the files is E0x123456.log
They will remain until you back up the information store
By all means just press delete but then you cannot restore your server.

Suggest you read up on Exchange 2010 as all of the above is covered in the first hour or so on the course and further information is listed in this forum and all previous version which all work the same.

hello
thx for helping
I just thought maybe separate log files would be created
I'm in one of those situations where exch just gets handed down
and you have to deal with it without much previous experience
thx
