We have alot of security groups and most of them are not being used.

Is there a utility that can find out where each security group is assigned to which server\share?

Thanks,

You can use XCACLS to generate a report and could then search within that report for the group names.

XCACLS is a free download from Microsoft.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Alternativly, you may wish to use Dumpsec (previously known as dumpacl). I have used this free utility for many years for migration purposes where we had to know the entire security structure for data, shares on a server etc.
It is quite configurable and you can choose what level of info you wish to audit.

It can be downloaded at
(Note - no need to install Hyena during install - excellent product but not free)
