My staff supports an office of 600+ users. There are times when they look for a specific computer to clean a virus, apply a patch, etc.. Our naming convention normally allows us to easily locate computers, as long as a user is using the computer and it is not sitting on a vacant desk.

Does anyone know of a utility that I can push out from a Domain Controller which would cause a computer to make a beep or some kind of noise to make it easier to find ?

I use a scanner that shows the current user logged on. You can then go look for John Doe... It's LanGuard from GFI...

Thanks,

The problem is that we are trying to find computers that users are not logged into, such as computers on desks that are currently vacant.
