Localhost Does Not Exist

I have A Win32 Version of apache 1.3.6 setup on a win95 Machine. I have set ServerName to

http://Localhost/

but when I set IE5.0 to view localhost I get the error message that you get if you are not online. Can anyone help.
P.S. I am using this only for development and not a comercial site. I am not that stupid!

Hi,

What do you get if you 'ping localhost' ? It should be set in your hosts file to resolve to ip address 127.0.0.1 . So,

http://localhost

and

http://127.0.0.1

are equivalent .
