when a computer is ready to be imaged and I have created local securty policys on it, does it reset the policy when you start the sysprep tool?

At a guess it will copy what's in place already.

"An image is a full copy of a master machine.
An image is basically a copy of an existing machine that you want to deploy to other machines. (The copy includes everything... OS, Applications and settings, etc..)"
