I have encountered a strange problem with my local network after establishing a VPN connection with another location. The VPN connection is a Safenet(DSL) to Netgear FVLS318 router(Fractional T1) through which I log into a NT SBS Domain. As soon as I enabled WINS on my local network computers which allows me to log in to the NT network, the local network stops working correctly. The local net comprises 1 ME, 1 XP and a WIN 2000 machine. I can see the ME machine from the XP machine but the xp and 2000 machines cannot access one another. If I disable WINS, everything works on the local net but of course I cannot log into the NT domain. I have verified all the settings of the ZoneAlarm firewall (which is a part of the safenet client.)

any errors on event viewer? also compare the records of wins and dns. do they have the same host name?
