Average users can not log onto Vista (Ultimate) locally.

But users are still allowed to the shares on Vista (network shares).

Admin(s) are allowed to log onto Vista (locally).

I've searched profiles, permissions, can't find anything wrong.
Anybody know of a fix, or lead me to right area for the fix??

Thanks in advance.

What do you mean by users can't log into Vista locally? What error messages are you getting. Are you sure they have permission to login to the pc? Are you sure the passwords are correct? Are the accounts enabled?

yes user passwords are correct, had no problems couple of days ago. Accounts are enabled, only Admins are able to login locally.

Haven't seen the error message yet, was notified by the office manager about this situation (yesterday).

I can do Remote Desktop, checked out "profiles" looks all in order. Just wondering if there was any knowledge about this type of problem before I go out there. I have never heard of this type of problem so far.

Thanks

A slight possibility it may be something along these lines.

"The security log on this system is full" message when you try to log on to a computer that is running Windows XP or Windows Server 2003

I guess we really need to know the exact error message and what logon you are referring to.

It might also be a Group Policy setting that is preventing them from logging on locally. Have a look at Computer Configuration/ Windows Settings/ Security Settings/ Local Policies/ User Rights Assignments/ "Allow Logon Locally".

I checked the logs for errors (some errors for applications) but nothing for "Users".

Also checked "Local Policies", users are able to logon locally.

So not sure what is going on, will have more information when I get to that office (Friday).

But thanks to both of you for your help.
