set up apache and can get my index page on localhost, and also from another computer in the network by the ip address, but I cant get it on the internet by useing the domain name.I have the dyns set up right, because I use to get it with the other hard drive and other computer.
would it be the router settings?
tks

If you're certain that the dynamic dns is working correctly, then the router or system firewall are the next most likely problem areas. Are you sure that apache is set to answer to the dns name? Do the error logs show anything?

smah, im sure that apache is set to answer to the dns name, that is the SERVERNAME ,Its the same as my old scrip.
I had to get a new links router and they [links] change everything in the new type of router.Dont like it at all.
I was even thinking of getting a different brand of router.I remember reading that one brand was very easy to set up.
Ill get back to you,but thank very much.

I agree that the problem lies with the router configuration. If I uderstand correctly, you are using a pointer service such as dyndns. This will change how you will set things up from the standard way you will get in the instruction manual. Dyndns needs to know when your ip address changes. It can't use the current ip it has on record because when your ip changes, it won't be able to locate you to find out. Pointer services usually rely on a small script on the server to connect with the service at a set interval. It checks the ip address of the sub-domain checking in and if it is different, it updates the record. Your router can't be setup to run this script. What you will need to do is instead of using port forwarding, set the server in the DMZ. What this does is forward all traffic on all ports to the server. You will need to setup a firewall on the server itself and limit it to allow only the ports you want open to the public. The server needs a static ip so you will need to configure the router to not use all available ip addresses for dhcp. You can tell it where in a range of numbers from 0-255 to start the dhcp pool.

I found out the problem, I Forgot to download the DYNDNS ..updater.. This small program up-dates your ip all the time.
Hope this will also help someone else out.
thanks for all your help.
