Terminal Services will not automaticly add the local printer for XP or win98 during a terminal services session. It will automaticly add it for windows XP however. any ideas?
Yep, the printer drivers have to match on the client and the server. If they don't, some options are:
1. Downgrade both to one that match (for an inkjet 895 use 600c driver) or
2. Modify Ntprint.inf on the server.
I just noticed my typo .. a printer will automaticly add in windows 2000, not windows XP or 98.
The printer drivers were added already. I don't understand why it wouldn't see it.
Printer #1 ) HP LaserJet 3100, previously connected to a networked computer, under windows 2000 Which would automaticly detect. Printer was moved to a computer with XP, and installed. the printer uses the same drivers in win2k as winxP. so it should work the same. prints locally, and the printer was already working on the TS server.
Printer #2 ) Is on a win98 machine from a users home site. I have not installed the drivers for this on the server. I will try it and proceed.
