I have a wired local area connection that is always starting up "disabled". It is on the only NIC in the laptop. I enable the connection and everything is fine...until the computer is restarted....then it is disabled again. Never saw this before. Tried everything I could think of. Any ideas?

Check the Power saving features, some laptops disable the networking if it is not in use at startup.

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

Control Panel-->Administrative Tools-->Services

One of your services is not enabled (I'd be able to spot it if mine did that)---I think that's your problem...not 100%, but worth a look-see...
