My firewall intercepted a file under Windows 98 named loadqm.exe which tried to access the internet from my computer. I refused it access. Should I have let it access? What does this file do? Could a hacker get into my computer through this file? Thanks. Tom

Loadqm.exe comes with MSN Messenger. You can quite safely delete the file and never have to worry about it again.

It doesn't appear to do anything useful and takes up quite a lot of a dial-up connection's bandwidth.

BTW - You're not using ZoneAlarm by any chance are you?

tl: I cross posted this where you suggested, thanks.

Ed: Yes, I am using ZoneAlarm. I also use MSN Messanger, albiet rarely. Can it run without loadqm.exe?

Tom,

Yes, Messenger will run with no problems without Loadqm.exe.

Just delete the executable.
