hey gang
i have one spot in my movie where i load an external swf into a MCholder....
problem is, when i test the movie, the external swf DOES load up, but the output window gives me the error:

Error opening URL "file:///J|/richardson/finals/"

what would the error be with opening the file?

cheers
paul

Does this happen while testing locally? Usually with that error the movie wouldn't load up. So if one is loading, then you may have another loadMovie action somewhere and that one can't be found.
Can you post more of your code, or better post a link to your .fla?

it is while testing locally yes...
here are the links

there are 2 buttons, i dont have the dining one done, but its interesting, if you click on it anyway, it seems to be trying to load the real movie, (the right one that is) and then again trying to reload some phantom movie.....
i dont get it

any help is GREATLY appreciated, i been staring at this for HOURS!

cheers
paul

ps you will need all the swfs in the same folder to work.
thnx

Ok! Paul this is a bit over my head... Only difference with Intructor Bill is that I'll openly admit it... And it is getting pretty late here...
But playing around with you master .fla, if you comment out your //_root.holderOne.unloadMovie(); in your click function, things seem to start working much better. I can at least get into the kitchen, without getting any errors... And since I don't have the dinning.swf, it would be normal that I'd get an error on that button, since the file can't be found... But I do get only one!

It may not solve or explain everything, but it is a start.

i had tried that before without any luck, but then changed a few things in the movie and never tried it again....
i really appreciate you taking the time to look at it.....
that will help me to get where i am going anyway
when i load the new movie, kitchen say, into the MCholder, will it just load at a closer depth and still leave the living room movie it place?
maybe that would be a solution for later navigation, swapDepths or something, although i havent used it before.

again, thanks for the look at it, i have been on this for days....i will leave the fla's up for a couple days if bill (nudge nudge) might have a look and couple maybe explain why it would give that message....(just kuz i dont like unexplained stuff...)
and if(not) heh thats ok

i really think you guys do great work here, and would just like to add that i have always left this forum satisfied!!
cheers
paul
