OK, I haven't loaded Win 98 for at least 5 years so I may be rusty. I get this pc to load. It just freezes while copying files or formating. New motherboard and hd. tried swapping out the memory sticks and still it will go and all of a sudden it just freezes. could it be a bad cable?>

HELP...

Even though you have a new hard drive, try another hard drive. This sounds like either a bad hard drive, cable as well as you mentioned or your jumper settings could be wrong. So check those 3 and let me know what you find out. Also might be worth checking to see if any new bios versions are available. If so id reccomend flashing it.

I would guess that 90% of loading problems with 98 and SE fall back on memory problems. Maybe even higher.
It can be really frustrating.
