Loading SCO OS

I get the following error message when trying to load SCO 5.0.5 to new PC:

Loading ram disk image fd(64) root FS
Memory excessively fragmented (in use map full)
Cannot load ramdisk: unable to allocate memory

What is my problem? Desperately need help.

is that under vmware or as a raw SCO partition?

but there are plenty of examples on net for that message so surprised you didn't look at some of them such as

which will apply regardless of being vmware or raw.

you may need to adapt the values to your own machine

idealy you would get oss644a or a more recent one which addresses this issue

How are you loading 5.0.5? There is a problem with the boot floppy that causes it to fail but it has been so long since I've used that method that I can't remember more than to use 5.0.4 boot.
