When connected via VPN, opening Outlook 2010 takes longer than usual.

It will Start and say "loading profile" and sit for a about 30 secs the give the message "Retry, work offline, Cancel".

When you hit retry, it will then connect after about 30 secs and work fine.

I've tested the Internet connection with different sources, normal wifi connection, Verizon mifi, cell tethering, and they all have the same result.

When directly connection to the network via wired connection, works right away....

This is a brand new laptop, used for about 2 weeks running Win 7 64 bit.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

It may be a timing issue. But you're working off a wireless network connection. Take a breath! Why don't you try taking Outlook out of the START sequence and load it on demand, AFTER the VPN connection is solid, to see if that changes anything.

I deal with similar anomalies from time to time using my company's VPN. Turns out, the latest Cisco VPN, has been performing nearly flawlessly as opposed to others I have used, with no timing PIN login, for instance.

Have your IT people look at the issue if it gripes you to distraction.
