Think the title is pretty self-explanatory. Anyone had luck with loading a 4610 QE phone with IPO firmware? I've been looking around for any tips on how to do it, but I've come up empty so far. If anyone could point me in the right direction, that would be awesome. Last I heard Avaya was going to be providing a tool to "upgrade" QE phones to an IP Office load since the QE is being declared EoS. Although I have not heard any word on whether this tool is available or not..

Thanks in advance.

I can add that the tool definately works....

2 things to mention though...

Make sure you use have outlook express set as default mail handler, if you are running the tool to collect mac addresses. Full Outlook didn't work for me - I guess some wierd security issue. You can then cut and paste the harvested MAC addresses out and into the licence generator. If you want to put in the addresses manually don't forget the ":" separator i.e. aa:bb:cc etc

The colon bit lost me 3 or 4 hours time, trying to work it out! (fortunately I wasn't on site - I was trying it in the office)

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

Well, almost there. I still seem to be having problems with the Licence generator. During the conversion I continue to get

"Conversion Failed

Conversion Not Allowed"

And this is right after it attempt to send the AvayaKeyFile.ava file. I'm putting in the MAC as xx:yy:zz:ww as suggested.

Ah well, I'll figure it out hopefully. Thanks!

Have you collected the MAC addresses using the upgrade tool?

(and by extension managed to get an email ready to send)

I just popped the stand & cover off the back of the phone and got the MAC address that way. Is it necessary to use the upgrade tool to collect it first?

It isn't necessary to use the tool, but I found it easier because you can cut and paste the list of macs direct into the licence generator.

Run through the upgrade wizard, having set outlook express up as your default email client - for some reason (security based I think) I couldn't get it to work with outlook. When the mail is ready to send - you can see the list of MACs in the mail body.

Cut and paste them to the licence generator and go from there

Definitely throwing me off. I went through the steps as you said just for kicks, still getting

"Conversion Failed

Conversion Not Allowed"

Went through the upgrade process, got the section where you email out, and at the bottom of the email showed the MAC address. Copied and pasted into the license generator and used the new file, still nothing.

The TFTP server seems to time out when grabbing the AvayaKeyFile.ava file, does that file need to be placed in a particular directory?

Also wonder if I need to do a standard upgrade on the firmware first for the QE phone. I think I have it on release 4.0 at the moment, I'll need to check to see if there's something newer out.

Thanks for the assistance thus far!

I have not done that conversion but with the QE I noticed in the past that if you leave all settings and folders default it works with the TFTP server.
