We have Windows 2000 Small Business Server, running Veritas Backup 8.50.
Everything was working fine, until a few days ago the backup started to go wrong. It seemed to happen after I installed GFI Mail Essntials on the Server.
Basically the backup begins to run, then after about 3 hours it stops on random files, and all that shows in the window is "Loading Media" and the tape is ejected as if it has finished. There is no error messages in Event Viewer. I have stopped the tape from backing up anything to do with GFI Mail Essentials, so cant see how that would effect it.

Did you changed something on the mediasets? Maybe there was a problem and it was not possible for BE to write on a media...

or

start SGMON.exe and start the BE-Job. It does log everything in a console (or log-fiel) have a look at it. There is much information about the errors...

I think the problem here is after the install the GFI the amount of information on disk has increased so whats happening is BE is ejecting the tape and requesting more media to continue the backup. Basically the tape is full. Check the alerts tab or application log, the application log should be generating a informational alert to insert more media, I bet if you stick another tape in that is overwritable when you see that loading media the job will continue.

Check the alert (if there is one) and see if it's asking for you to insert a writable media. Sounds like you're going into a second tape.
